You can use Adobe Premier Pro or Rush here to edit your video and photoshop to edit your photos in the beautiful display with results that you are expecting to.
My complaint here is that it comes with an 8 GB RAM, which I felt would have been better if it was at-least 12 or 16 GB. While editing 4K content, the system could be overloaded with an 8 GB RAM.
To say about displays there are no other words that perfect. It’s one of the best displays in a laptop that I have ever seen as I told before.
It gives wide color gamut and the picture and video quality is excellent. I felt that the brightness could have been a bit better, which is a common issue with 4K display laptops.

Buyers Guide
What is an SSD?
SSD when expanded stands for Solid State Drive. As the name suggest, these things do not have any moving parts as a normal HDD would have.
You might have seen or heard about an HDD (Hard disk drive) before, in case you have used a Computer or visited a computer shop. HDD’s have a moving head and an array of circular disks.
Here, there will be heads over each disk in the array that will read and write data to the disk.
This happens each time you copy any data to the HDD or copy some data from the HDD.
In case of an SSD, they do not have any moving parts.
They are flash storage which store data in flash memory. You might have seen a Pen drive or may have used it. If so, you will not see any moving parts there. SSD works similarly.
Why an SSD is faster than HDD?
This was a common question asked by people when SSD was introduced to the market.
Here the answer is quite simple. In case of an HDD, there is a moving head which needs to locate sectors in the disk to write the data to it.
The movement of the head and the disk rotation time adds up in the total time taken for an HDD to complete the process.

In case of an SSD, that time is avoided and the read and write speeds are more than double compared to an HDD.
Let me explain the same with some data that will give you a better Idea of SSD and HDD and how one is better than the other.
Solid State Drive (SSD) vs Hard Disk Drive (HDD)
Factors | Solid State Drive (SSD) | Hard Disk Drive (HDD) |
---|---|---|
File Transfer speed | 40% faster than an HDD | Comparatively very slow |
Noise | I never heard a noise | 25 to 30 DB |
Cost | Expensive | Cheaper than an SSD |
Storage capacity | 1TB is the max in most laptops | Upto 2 TB is used in laptops |
Durability | High | Low |
Moving parts | No Moving parts | Some moving parts |
OS boot time | Fast boot in less than 10 seconds | Long boot times |
Life | Life upto 3 million hours | Less than 1.5 million hours |
In the above table, there are some factors that need explanation.
Data Read and Write speeds
Here, an SSD will always win compared to an HDD. I had mentioned earlier that an SSD is not having any heads to read and write the data to and from it.
So the lag in this case does not appear here. So an SSD will be definitely be faster than an HDD due to this.
In case of speed if you check the speeds here are calculated based on micro seconds and an SSD takes less than 100 micro seconds to read and write data where an HDD takes ranges from 4000 to 8000 micro seconds to do the same operation.
So if you check the speed in MB/s then an SSD can rage up to 700 MB/s, but an HDD will go max up to 150 MB/s. So the difference is clear here.
Power usage
In case of power usage also SSD is very efficient as it does not have any moving parts. It consumes very less power compared to an HDD.
Durability
SSD are more durable compared to HDD, as we know, things that have more moving parts can fail more easily compared to things having no moving parts.
Price
Here, HDD wins because the price of an HDD is very less compared to an SSD. This is due to the manufacturing cost of Solid State drives.
A typical 500 GB SSD would cost you more than, 12000Rs which when compared to an HDD of same storage can be bought with less than half of the price.
In case you are looking for a SSD laptop under 40000 or a laptop with SSD under 30000 then it will be hard to find a good one.
Here, an SSD comes out a clear winner in all the cases except price. It is a better hardware in total to have in your laptop compared to an HDD.
What are the benefits of using an SSD in a laptop Instead of HDD?
The answer to this is simple. As we know, a laptop is not only SSD or HDD, but it has many other components that work together.
So for a laptop to perform well all the parts should work fast, and the end result will be a fast and good performing laptop. People consider some things like which they expect their laptop to perform.
- Booting times: This is the starting point of all laptops, When you boot the laptop you usually need to wait if your laptop hardware loads the OS and the compatible drivers slow.
- In case you are having a Laptop with HDD, the above-mentioned factors add up and give a slow booting time. So if you have an SSD in the laptop, then things will be definitely better.
- You will experience a faster booting time and the app load times will be much less compared to a laptop running on HDD.
- As we know, laptops run in batteries when they are not connected to a power out let. An HDD may consume more power from the battery if there are a lot of reading and writing operation going on. In case you have an SSD, similar functions will happen with very less power consumed.
- This all things add up to make your laptop a better gadget to use.
- In case you are using a Gaming laptop, you will notice the performance difference for sure when you compare an HDD laptop gaming performance and an SSD laptop performance.
- Even in the benchmarks, a SSD laptop will just be better than an HDD laptop any day. The rendering of games and load times will be much faster in this case.
Here you may be having some questions in your mind.
I just bought a new laptop which has an HDD should I upgrade?
This could definitely happen. You might have bought a laptop recently and your friend might have bought a laptop with SSD in it.
And when you see his laptop performing better than yours, you will think if your decision was wrong.
But there are solutions for all the problems in the world of computing. In case your laptop is compatible with SSD, then you can surely upgrade it to an SSD storage.
Most of the HDD and SSD’s come in a size of 2.5 inches. There are some more compact SSD’s that are installed in Ultrabooks and Slim lightweight laptops like NVMe SSD.
This type of SSD are much compact is size and look similar to RAM in your PC or laptop.
They are used because of their miniature size so that they can easily fit into a slim laptop like the MacBook Air or the Latest Gen MacBook pros.
Even many other manufactures are using NVMe SSD’s now to reduce the size of the laptops and also the weight.
In case your laptop supports the 2.5 Inch HDD then it should support similar size SSD as well.
Before jumping on to replacing your HDD with SSD, it would be better if you can confirm with your laptop store or a technician about the same so that you can do it without worries.
The process is actually simple
- Backup or clone your existing date from your laptop to an external hard disk.
- Open your laptop’s bottom panel and remove the screws which are used to place your HDD in the casing.
- Now connect the new SSD to the SATA cable that you had just disconnected.
- In case you have not cloned the disk, then you may need to boot the system and check if a new SSD is detected.
- If detected, then just install a copy of OS into it, and you are done.
- You now have a faster laptop, and you will really feel it when you start using it.
In case you are looking to buy an SSD for your laptop, here are some of the best one’s that I could find which are of 2.5 inch size and will fit into most of the laptops in the market.
Question and Answers
