Aadhaar and PAN cards are two of the most important identification documents for Indian citizens. Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique identification number issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), while the PAN (Permanent Account Number) Card is a ten-digit alphanumeric code issued by the Income Tax Department of India. Linking Aadhaar and PAN is mandatory for Indian citizens as per Section 139AA of the Income Tax Act, 1961.

Online Method to link Aadhaar and PAN
The online method is the easiest and most convenient way.
Step 1: Visit Income Tax Department of India website.
Step 2: Click on the ‘Link Aadhaar’ option in Quick Links section.
Step 3: Enter your PAN and Aadhaar number in the fields shown.
Step 4: Enter your name as it appears in your Aadhaar.
Step 5: Click on the “Submit” button.
Step 6: If the details entered by you match the details available with UIDAI, the linking process will be successful.

Step 7: A message will appear on the screen indicating that your Aadhaar and PAN have been linked.
Offline Method to link Aadhaar and PAN
If you are not comfortable with the online method, you can also link Aadhaar and PAN offline.
Step 1: Visit the nearest PAN service center or TIN facilitation center.
Step 2: Fill up the “Annexure-I” form.
Step 3: Submit the form and include a self-attested copy of your Aadhaar card.
Step 4: The service center will verify your details.
Step 5: Once the linking process is successful, you will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number and email id.

When is the Aadhaar PAN Link Last Date?
The government has extended the last date to March 31, 2023. It is mandatory to link Aadhaar and PAN before the deadline to avoid any penalties.
