Apple is also expected to join the camera zoom race with iPhone 15 Pro Max and its Periscope Lens with 6X optical Zoom.
Optical zoom in Apple iPhones are now limited to 3X and with the inclusion of a periscope camera lens, iPhones would be able to achieve a higher zoom levels. Apple will be limiting this features to the Pro Max models, as the periscope lens hardware would need more space to be accommodated in the iPhone body.

Until it’s suitable for smaller iPhones like the iPhone 15 or 15 Pro, we can expect this pattern in the iPhone 16 Pro Max as well. As Apple will be adding this lens to its larger variant of iPhone.
Ming Chi Kou recently tweeted about the expected changes that Apple could bring to the table with their next iPhone.
Another major update that we can expect from the next generation iPhone is the removal of physical buttons and ports.
This change is rumored for long, and we will see this change soon. With the introduction of the Periscope lens, we can expect a slight bump in thickness compared to the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Apple is introducing this periscope camera to improve mobile phone photography for people who want to capture long range shots.
Even though 5 to 6X optical zoom won’t be a match to the 10X optical and 200X digital zoom that we get in S23 Ultra but still it would be a good improvement from the 3X zoom that we have now.
Things may become more clear once we reach near September, as the iPhones are always launched during that period of the year.
