Are you planning to buy TP-Link Deco X60 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 router then check our in hand review before making a decision

TP link is one of the most popular networking device manufacturer in India. Most shops and electronic outlets have their products.

This is because of the price to performance ratio and the after sales service that TP-Link provides.

When it comes to Wi-Fi 6 routers in India, there are not many great options which fall in budget segment.

If you are planning to buy a Mesh Wi-Fi system under 30000 then the TP-Link Deco X60 will be the one to go with.

How did we create this review on TP-Link Deco X60?

We purchased the product on the month of January 2023 and have been using the Deco X60 for the last two months.

This review is completely based on our testing of the product and the things that we liked and disliked with the Deco X60.

Since the month of December, we had started facing issues with our Wi-Fi network as there were many new Wi-Fi routers being setup nearby.

This was causing an interference with our network.

Our place is filled with IOT devices, and the lag that we noticed was huge.

We are using home assistant setup for controlling various devices at home like Air conditioners, Blinds, Fans, Lights and Sensors.

These devices started responding slowly. This made us think of upgrading our network to a Mesh system.

On searching the internet, we noticed that TP-Link had many options in the price range that we are looking for.

Reason for selecting the TP-link Deco X60

TP Link XE75 and TP Link X60 were our main choice. When it comes to the TP Link XE 75, it is a Mesh Wi-Fi system with Wi-Fi 6E.

It is advanced than the Deco X60 but still, most of our devices were not compatible with it.

This is due to the 6E technology, as it works on the 6Ghz band.

Even though it’s backward compatible, when we compare the price of the X60 and the XE75, the price difference was high.

For now, we felt the Deco X60 would be the perfect choice here, as it provides most of the features that the XE75 provides in a much lower price.

TP-Link Deco X60 Setup

This is the aspect that we liked the most. The setup of this Mesh Wi-Fi system was a breeze as.

  • The process just included placing each router in the location that we wanted.
  • Connect one node that is the primary to the modem from the ISP.
  • Install the TP Link Deco app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

  • Once you click it, the additional node will automatically be detected and added to the network.

WiFi Range of Deco X60

Our area is around 3000 square feet, earlier when we were using the old router, there were a lot of dead spots.

We had serious issues with IOT devices getting disconnected in between from the network, and also they do not respond to the commands.

Since we have set up the TP-Link Deco X60 router, all the issues with network starting to disappear.

A major difference that we noticed is the range that we get. We were able to receive our Wi-Fi signal even at the basement and also till 2 houses from our home.

This was a great improvement. All the IOT devices started working without any lag and responded seamlessly.

Regarding security, as the system comes with Antivirus and also WPA 3 support, we do not need to worry about any one hacking to the network easily.

IOT support of the Deco X60

As we had mentioned earlier, there are many IOT devices connecting to the network. We mainly switched our router because of the issues with IOT devices.

We were using IFTTT and Alexa speakers for home automation. The Tp-Link Deco X60 could be integrated with these services easily.

Alexa had a dedicated skill to add the Deco to the system, making it easy to control the device using voice commands.

Also, we can know the present status and speed of the network easily.

As we are using Sonoff motion sensors using Zigbee, there were Zigbee bridges placed all over the home to control them.

With the IFTTT support, working with the sensors became really easy.

Design of Deco X60

You may think, why we are discussing design here.

Yes, it’s a fact that some people look into the design of the Wi-Fi system as well. When placed over a table, it should blend into other things kept around.

We have seen homes which place their router near their TV unit, in that case if the design is not good then it may spoil the looks.

deco x60

In terms of design, the Deco X60 is sleek looking. It comes in cylindrical shape and can be placed at any location in your home.

Dimensions of each node are 4.3 x 4.3 x 4.7 inches, which is suitable for any tight space as well.

Price of TP Link Deco X60

Finally, the elephant in the room is price. It would decide if you need to buy this Mesh Wi-Fi system or not. In India, the Deco X60 is priced very aggressively.

For a single node router, we can get the system under 10000 Rupees and if you want a multi node system, you can add any number of nodes.

We purchased a 3 node system and the price fell just below, 27000 which was great for a Mesh Wi-Fi 6 router.

Things we did not like with the TP-Link Deco X60

Even though there are many points to be liked here, there are still a few aspects that the company could improve.

  • The router that we were using previous was wall mountable, but the Deco X60 does not have any option to do it.

We need a flat surface to place this, or else it may fall off.

  • Another thing that we noticed is that the LED indicator is at the bottom of the router node, this made it hard to notice when the network was down.

It would have been better if the LED was placed at the front or the top of the node.

  • Application is a bit complex here, we need to dig in deep to find a setting that we are looking for.

A bit more work on the app would make it miles better

Verdict of the Deco X60 from TP-Link

In our personal opinion, if you are planning to upgrade your network at your home or office, you should definitely have a look into the Deco X60 from TP-Link.

It is one of the best Mesh Wi-Fi 6 Router available in India for the price it is offered.

Even though it does not come with the latest gen Wi-Fi 6E, still the difference that you can notice after the upgrade is huge.

Setup process is real simple and all dead spot issues can be solved easily.
