WhatsApp channels will help to Broadcast messages like Instagram
Being one of the most popular instant messaging platform, WhatsApp is bringing a lot of new features to the table. Presently, WhatsApp is working on a new feature which will help to broadcast messages using channels like Instagram. This feature is expected to roll out for iOS users first.
This feature is already available on Instagram, which comes under Meta. According to the information from WAbetainfo, WhatsApp will be replacing the status tab to include the channels to broadcast the message.

Using this feature, users could get update from sources that they choose. This feature was spotted in WhatsApp beta version 23.8.0.75 in TestFlight.
Encryption in WhatsApp channel
Channels in WhatsApp will be encrypted as mentioned by Whatspp, but the conversations would not be end-to-end encryption. This should not affect the private messaging section, as the encryption will remain the same in that.
WhatsApp channels are expected to support handles so that people can mention specific channels by adding their usernames. Users would be free to join any channel and there won’t be any recommendations or algorithms that push them to the users.
